For Christmas my children received an Xbox. We already had a Wii. The rule in our house is only one gaming system. We thought (and tried) to sell the Wii. Upon learning that we would get next to nothing for it and not sure what to do with it, my husband mentioned donating it to a foster home or a children's home. I thought this was a brilliant idea. Why hadn't I thought of this before? With a little research on the internet I found a children's home not far from here. I called to make sure I could bring donations to their location. The young men that helped me unload my car were so appreciative and kind.
If you do not know what to do with your children's old clothes, shoes, jackets, etc please try and find a local group, foster or children's home. Many times the organizations that contract out the foster homes have lending closets that the foster parents can get clothes and things from.
Next we move on to our mound of CDs. What the heck do I do with them? They are taking up a good amount of space that I could use for other things. Very few of the CDs we have are loaded onto a computer or itunes. So today I am starting to tackle the task of loading all these CDs into our itunes account. They will then be backed up onto our external hard drive. The CDs will then be donated to the library. What a great way to get these things out of my house and into the hands of other people that can enjoy them.
I know there are many great ideas like this. What are some of your favorite ideas for passing along your used items?
